An Horse is a two person indie pop band from Brisbane, Australia, comprising Kate Cooper of Iron On on vocals and guitar and Damon Cox of Intercooler and Mary Trembles on drums. An Horse was originally a solo project of Kate Cooper, who is the principal songwriter. An Horse was Cooper’s way of not doing things that she was meant to be doing. So she started playing more music and doing crosswords. Her friend Damon was already playing music but he was more into sudoku. In 2008 they recorded their debut EP ‘Not Really Scared’ with producer Magoo and released this on Valve records. They released their first full length album ‘Rearrange Beds’ in Jan 2009 on Valve Records in Australia/NZ and in March of 2009 on Mom & Pop Records in the US/Canada. Early 2008 they were invited to tour the United States as an opening act for Tegan and Sara after Cooper met them in the record store she worked at, and in August of 2008 they opened for Death Cab for Cutie’s Australian tour. They have also toured with Tegan & Sara and Kaki King in in Australia. They are currently touring extensively in the USA including a recent performance of Camp Out on David Letterman.
