Angie Foster here, a Portland-based, singer/songwriter/pianist with a Sarah McLachlan meets Sara Bareilles vibe. Or so I've been told. (I know I should act cool, but wow, that comparison tickles the hell out of me!) My upcoming album “Hurry Up and Wait” is slated for release in spring 2010. The album was recorded at the Kung Fu Bakery recording studio in Portland (Everclear, Pink Martini, Decembrists) with producer Bob Stark (Shins, Pink Martini, Intervision).
Since age seven, I have penned tunes, but my artistry is a more recent occurrence with an equally circuitous history. As a girl, I lived in Tokyo; as a young woman returning to this neon metropolis, I performed and was a music critic for a leading English language paper. Stateside I continued with music, but mainly for myself. It took the cataclysmic events of September 11, 2001 to shape my music. I wrote a song, “Never Forget” in response to the tragedy, shared it with friends, and their overwhelming response inspired me to embark on a solo career.
