Often described as Indie electronic rock pop, Beats for beginners are essentially one guy singer songwriter Mike TV and his vision to fuse his love of Bowie T-Rex, & Primal scream with Kraftwerk…

Mike TV - (Real name Michael Bottomley) Whitby born (North Yorkshire) musician based in Manchester where he moved to study sound recording as a student in early 90’s at Salford University. After living with Fingathing hip hop artists and been in several bands playing guitar .(including Martin Rebelski of Doves). He started Beats For Beginners in 2002 writing and recording all the tracks himself and forming a band from friends. He got spotted when he made a demo CD and it fell into the hands of BMG who discoverd Coldplay. Faith And Hope Records in Manchester then made an offer for an album deal and DON’T FLY INTO THE SUN debut was released in 2004. The first single KILL ALL DJS was played on radio 1 Mark radcliffe show and a minor electro dance floor filler…7/10 NME 2004…other singles include TECHNOLOGY, SUMMER LOVERS and I CAN LOVE which featured his long time friend REBELSKI (Martin Rebelski - Doves keyboard player) of which Mike wrote 2 tracks and toured with supporting Badly Drawn Boy. Mike TV also now DJ’s with Doves DJ brothers Jez & Andy Williams across Europe and UK.

2008 see’s Beats For Beginners return with brilliant darker rockier solid material with a mini 6 track CD EP release LASER BEAMS FOR EYES EP (available on itunes) and some amazing remixes from interesting acts that Mike had spotted off myspace including ZZZ… New tracks from December recording sessions are quite amazing FREAKY GIRL and IN THE CITY AT NIGHT are currently playing on the myspace page the only official BEATS FOR BEGINNERS WEBSITE.
