Biography

Ben Folds Five (1994-2000) was a three-member band formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who until their breakup in 2000 were a mainstay of piano rock. Much of their work was influenced by jazz, evident in frequent improv-styled passages through bridge and/or ending.

The members of the band were: Ben Folds, the lead singer and pianist, who also wrote most of the songs; Robert Sledge on bass and Darren Jessee on drums. The group enjoyed the success of the single Brick in 1997, a ballad written by Folds (with a chorus by Jessee) about his high school girlfriend getting an abortion. This s... (+) expand

I love Ben Folds & Ben Folds Five. :D

One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces was actually the song that made me fall in love with them.

They are even alluded to in a Motion City Soundtrack Song entitled "Antonia".

Can we get some of Ben Fold's new stuff like "Army" or "Zak and Sara?"

This song is great, even better on his live album!

uuuuuuuhhhhhhhh I take my last comment back! Bump it all you want. Battface explained it to me;"The guys who run the 61 (Sam and James) have it set up so that posts to certain blogs are uploaded to the site". So this page is legit. I apologize for my newbieness, my bad.

Whoever you are, it's great that you like good music, but you have to stop putting up songs from bands that are not your own!3 or 4 big name bands that I've listened to have the "we used to play in a van by the river" (two gallants, the pogues, flight of the concords). Don't waste your bumps on these bands because these sites are eventually going to have to be taken down.

Ben is one the most talented composers and piano players I've ever seen. I had the chance to see him live and his concerts are just as good/better than his CDs.

I wouldn't mind if some of the stuff from Naked Baby Photos was put on here - there's some brilliant rarities on there, which is what thesixtyone is great at spotlighting.

Give me something like "Underground" or "My Philosophy" from the first album, but all this stuff is great. Bring it on!

Amazing! I've been a fan for quite a few years now, and I'd have to say my fav song is "Song for the Dumped" or your version of "Freebird" from one of the live shows. Crazy, keep it up! I'd love to see a tour date in PA sometime.
