With lyrics that weave stories and muse over feelings many seem to take for granted, Brett Randell has shown he is on a mission to make music that listeners can truly connect with. His unique bluesy voice lays smoothly over simple, yet powerful guitar melodies. Despite being surrounded by music his entire life, the 21-year-old college graduate from suburban New York only recently realized his passion for performing and songwriting.
Though both his sister and brother performed in bands throughout their teenage years, Brett shied away from any musical pursuits and stuck to his passion for drawing and writing. It wasn’t until purchasing an acoustic guitar for his 20th birthday that he had even considered writing a full song. Quickly putting pen to paper and fingers to fret, he unleashed the thoughts and feelings stored inside him for years. Within the first couple days of owning his guitar, he wrote the song that would be the ultimate goal for his musical endeavors… “I’ll change the world with my words.”… A bold statement for a boy who was originally too shy to play for even his closest friends.
Now, only two years after writing his first song, Brett has made amazing progress as an artist. Opening for Pete Francis, one of the three members of the famous independent band Dispatch, his first ever live show created a positive vibe that would continue through his live performances at various venues and bars. With a plan to move to Austin, TX and continue spreading his music, Brett is only at the beginning of a long road in the world of music.
