Buck 65 aka Richard Terfry (1972) is a Canadian musician who fuses many genres together, but hip-hop is always prominent. His style changes frequently and he is constantly trying new things. He currently resides in Toronto, moving there after he and his fiancee split up.
Born and raised in Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia, Richard first heard rap music in the late 80s while listening to local radio station CKDU.
In 1993 he released his first record as Stinkin’ Rich on No Records, a label operating out of Halifax. Later, he changed his name to Buck 65 and recorded Sebutonedef with fellow Halifax hip hop artist Sixtoo. They later named themselves Sebutones and released 3 albums.
Manoverboard (originally released on anticon) as well as various other earlier albums have recently been re-issued on Warner Music Canada, where Buck 65 is curerntly part of the roster, having released 3 albums for the label since 2003. In 2005, two Buck 65 albums were released, the one being his first Best Of called This Right Here is Buck 65, the other being his follow up to Talkin’ Honky Blues, called Secret House Against the World.
