Forming in 2010, Covela (co-ve'-la) stars Sarah Drinkwine on vocals, Jake Boyd and Brad Golding on guitars, Chris Windsor on bass and Christian "The German" Fuhrer on drums. These musicians materialized from previously existing valley bands as well as LA/Nashville and North Carolina (Sarah & Christian, respectively). Once formed, they coined their name from the constellation "Vela" which is latin for the sails of a ship. Covela's self-recorded, self-titled EP was released on February 18th 2011 and features the ultra pop-rocky "Floodline", the mysteriously driven "Mundane vs Madness", the epic ballad of "Better" and the eye-crossing ear candy of "Time". The band's driven, melodic rock sound has been paralleled to Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, Muse and The Killers. These, along with the band's collective writing, touring and performance experience, have made Covela edgy, driven and melodic, yet just pop-rock enough to give their performance relevant energy.
