DOLLARQUEEN

Bruges, Belgium

about +
“Exciting rock in which lies a feeling of euphoria ... the world is your oyster.”

In)Bruges based DOLLARQUEEN consists four members, and keeps it's church somewhere in between hard rock and psychedelia. The characteristic sound of the band, which surprisingly often seems to come back to the late sixties and early seventies, due to the timbre of singer Filip Bohyn and steaming guitar licks from Koen Schaballie. This last one also appears to be a Luthier in his spare time, he made a few pretty cool guitars over years by now. On bass we hear Danny Degheldere, while Dave Eeckeloo is stringing the percussion beats together. All seasoned musicians with a penchant for the same music. DOLLARQUEEN picks up the slack with pure and unadulterated rock songs.

The band formed in the summer of 2007, all members had already achieved some musical status in their previous bluesy related bands. “The band’s name came from the lyrics on one of their first songs ‘Red Lights’ a song about the ‘streets of joy’ and a neologism for prostitute.” Their sound is often described as bluesy, psychedelic, 70’s dirty road movie rock, or often compared with bands like The Doors, The tragically hip, Nick Cave, Interpol, REM and so on...

During 2011 the band started the production of their follow-up album 'CIRCUS', featuring 8 new songs produced by former Channel Zero axe man Peter Iterbeke @Max Studio's and Mastered by Peter Bellaert @DY-NA-MIX.

A thesixtyone.com listener described them as “a great blend of surf rock, urban jam, and scary cool vocals!”

"CIRCUS" is the follow up album for the 2008 self titled debut album "DOLLARQUEEN".
The song "No More Tomorrow" was picked up by Hollywood based 272 Records for their Blues Highway Vol. 1 compilation, the song received major airplay at over 25 college radios throughout the US and is still available at Hollywood's biggest record store Amoeba Music & Amazon.
