Hydrogen Burning is the debut CD from San Francisco reggae-rock duo Dream Art Science.
As in roots reggae music, the lyrics are uplifting. But these themes are from a different tribe, focused on dramas of starbirth and of ancient Egypt: a god waking up in primordial emptiness, intent on creation; a protostar’s drive to ignite; roots seeking water; retrieving riches from The Other Side; gravitational attraction; enduring desert heat while dreaming of the yearly inundation of the Nile.
Hydrogen Burning is a multi-media production. The 32-page color booklet, created entirely by Dream Art Science, is a complex harmony of enchanting imagery and coherent mystery, illuminating facets of the large mythic context from which their songs emerge. It introduces the lunar-solar Spiral Calendar, the 26-year Regeneration Rotundum (starting in December 2012), the first chronovision quest, the spiral-tuned guitar (Kevin’s guitar is always spiral-tuned), and much more.
“It is magical! It certainly transformed my campus office from the moment I slid it into my computer.”
Camille Paglia — author, Salon.com columnist
“Mixing in reggae rhythms with smooth soft rock, Dream Art Science are a cerebral mash-up. With beautiful female vocals, these San Francisco natives write compelling songs”
