Elektrobear, 3rd september - 2009:
"Mine was the regular kids life. Separated parents etc etc. I'm going to have to say all that worked out for the best, because, how could it not? I'm here, ain't I? That's the best we can hope for. I wouldn't say there was much in terms of musical upbringing when it came to me. It's only in recent years that I've learned what music can really mean for people, the effect it can have on them.
As with any other kid, I went through phases. First there was the 80's/pop phase. I've never quite shaken that one off.. Then there was the rap phase. I admit, I won't say no to a good rhyme and a strong beat. Metal followed. Iron Maiden, Metallica.. You know, the usual. Short forays into death metal followed. I grew to learn the growling and screaming. I can't really explain it. And then came the Electronica.
All in all, this makes up the package that is me, Oli, Elektrobear, Ólafur Helgi Kolbeinsson.. A 3 year piano student and long time music lover, short time music creator.
Saying I play the piano might be a bit egotistical of me. I know enough to get by, happy birthday here, christmas carol there, but let's face it.. I'm not going to break out Mozart and the likes when the going gets tough. (I can play Ode to Joy by beethoven though!(alright, very simplified version))
I'm interested in alot of things, but not really.
For some reason.. I don't remember how, I don't remember when(well, barely) and I don't remember why, I started making music. The process of music creation instantly resonated with me and I felt an almost primal need to get my music out to others. I did it in the only way I knew.
MSN File Transfers.
Somewhere along the way, I thought it'd be cool to release an album, so I did. Wasn't much more to it. Put it online, got a few downloads and that was that. I pushed on, of course, and started working on a new album. The labors of that work should be out and about soon(I've been saying this since friggin May, here's hoping I'm right this time.)
Further down the road to damnation, I got the brilliant idea of buying my own domain and putting up a website, so I did it. And here we are now."
