The band (which still had no name) began recording in the summer of 2007 and halfway through the recording process, the group realized that they had written the next Gods Reflex record.

When It’s Down To This was recorded by Mark Muraski (Cheap Trick, Cory Chisel, Comedy Central/The Colbert Report) over several months and is the most ambitious work by the band to date. Lyrically, Newman has never been so revealing. He has created stories that are deeply personal while maintaining their relevancy to the rest of us, and his candor pays off. Musically, the band has pushed themselves to pursue new territory while staying grounded in the band they have always been. Songs like "When It’s Down To This" offer a vision that will attract a new audience while retaining a familiarity that will satisfy even the most particular of long-time fans.
