Harsk was officially formed as a band in February 2007, though the band idea came into being already around 2003. Because of the lack of drummers and vocalists, and especially a place to practice, it took a while before the band from the little town of Molde in Norway came from idea to a complete band.

The 3-4 years before the band was formed, had been used by the guitarist Odd Magne Risan and the synthist Ivar A.
