Whats good family? To keep it short, I have been producing hip hop for almost a decade. I grew up in the 80s and 90s so I am influenced by the hip hop that was made at that time. Premo, Jay Dee, Pete Rock, Madlib...
On the radio and in videos hip hop has seemed to suffer. It has become so dumbed down and fake sounding. It seems to have lost the musicality it had back in the day when producers understood chord progressions and melody. True beatcrafting is seldom heard in Top 40 hip hop. With the exception of a few producers such as 9th Wonder, Kanye West, Will.I.Am, Pharell and a few others, hip hop music in the mainstream sounds cheesy and overproduced.
That is why I'm here. I want to try to carry the torch passed on from my favorite producers and put my own twist on it. I am from the west coast so my beats dont quite fit in with the current sound of the Bay Area. I have a more east coast feel because that is the stuff that influenced me growing up. Its a little hard to find cats in my area who wanna spit real shit over musical beats. The internet has alowed me to work with people from all over the world.
