KILLINGBIRD

Minneapolis, MN

about +
Killingbird is a hard rock/metal band from Los Angeles, California, together since 2001. They’ve been described as "sleaze rock", with a sound that has been compared to Avenged Sevenfold and Marilyn Manson by fans.

Influenced by a lot of the Sunset Strip rock of the late 1980's and early 1990's like Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Faster Pussycat, Pretty Boy Floyd, L.A. Guns, and Bang Tango, lead singer Christian and guitarist Skyla Talon founded the band Suicide Circus in the mid 1990's. After moving out to L.A. at different times, and after being a part of different projects, they lacked that chemistry that they had before, and Killingbird came into play.

Said Christian about their first gig: "The place is closed now, but it was at the Coconut Teazer. It was a great place. It was a small, dark room. We begged and had about 60 of our friends there. It was just cool to be on stage playing a show in Hollywood! It was one of those dreams. That first gig was about four or five months after we officially got together. We wrote enough originals to play a set. We love playing live."

The band released their self-titled debut album Killingbird in 2002, featuring a cover of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven". They would release the follow-up album "Waste Another Yesterday" in 2004, also contributing a track to Metal Sludge's "Hey! That's What I Call Sludge - 1", covering Vain's classic song "Beat The Bullet". The band is currently working on their third album, tentatively titled "Scar".

Skyla Talon has also been pulling double-duty as the guitarist for Scum of the Earth, led by Riggs from Rob Zombie's band. He also has released a solo CD titled "All The Dead Flowers" and is working on his second solo CD, tentatively titled "Last Of Summertime".

BAND QUOTES:

"We're a straight-up rock 'n roll band and we love hanging out with people."
---Christian

"We're just a dirty rock 'n roll band!"
---Christian

"The first W.A.S.P. record is so scary and great. For me, that was the time. I got into music as a really young kid. I got into KISS then. When Shout At The Devil and Look What the Cat Dragged In came out, that was my time."
---Christian

"Motley Crue "Shout at the Devil". I remember borrowing money from Mom to get this. Bad move on her part. I blame this record for leading me to my many arrests, drug abuse, wearing make-up and last but not least getting my ass kicked out of the house. This is the record that fucked shit up for me and I love it!"
---Skyla
