Formed in 1996, this trio is comprised of Malja (guitar/vocals), Nordberg (bass) and Heikkonen (drums). Taking the advantage of being friends since childhood they’ve had the time to create their own melancholic sound. Comparisons to bands such as Tool and Mew and Coheed and Cambria are not far fetched but only part of the outline; the actual substance is free of carbon copies. Lapko have already made a name for themselves in Finland through their debut album The Arms, earlier EPs, festivals and in-your-face live shows. Fusing together Malja’s powerful vocals, Heikkonen’s dynamic drumming and Nordberg’s bass backed up by the band’s artistic vision Lapko really have something to look forward to.
