DAVE LAUBER

Lake Mary, FL

about +
My name is Dave Lauber. I was born in Vineland, NJ in 1963 to Thomas and Louise Lauber. I was raised in Newfield, NJ, a one-square-mile town (borough) with a storybook setting and a ton of classic charm. I was the 4th oldest of 6 children, 4 of which were girls. As you can imagine, money was a little tight with all of those mouths to feed! My father was a hard working ex-military guy, and my mother was the closest thing to a saint that you can imagine. I feel fortunate to have had such wonderful parents. They were key in helping me realize that I had musical talents, and were very supportive of me. Sadly, my father was killed by a drunk driver when I was 13, and my mother was killed by a drunk driver when I was 23. I owe and dedicate my life of music to them both.

When I was about 4, I started drumming on everything in the house with cardboard hanger bottoms and spoons. My parents quickly realized I needed a drum set, so they bought me a cheap toy kit for Christmas. I busted the heads on it within a week or so, and that's when they decided to get me a real kit. My dad got me my first kit, a 4pc gold-sparkle Gretch drum set. After that wore out, I later got a 5pc blue-sparkle Ludwig kit for about $75. I sure wish I had that today! Music was in my blood, mostly due to that fact that my father loved New York, Broadway, Hollywood and everything that had to do with entertainment of that sort.

As the years went by, I became interested in guitar at about the age of 13, and bass soon after. I never adapted well to music lessons because I would always memorize my parts, and then had trouble reading them. It seemed like too much work, and I just wanted to play. Everyone told me I had a special talent with music. I could listen to a song on the radio, and by the time I got home, I would have all the parts worked out in my head, and then I would just sit down and play it almost perfectly the first time! I could do this on drums, guitar, bass and even sometimes simple piano parts.

I began putting bands together when I was 9, and started playing in clubs for money when I was about 15 or so. I was playing mostly rock, classic rock and blues, but I could switch to jazz, oldies or other styles when needed. After dropping out of High School my senior year (due to excessive partying), I decided to get my GED and join the National Guard. I was in from 1981 through 1986. After this I started going to Gloucester County College in NJ as a music major. This lasted about one year, and then I decided to change my major to something more practical as a backup, in case music didn't work out for me.

In 1989 I decided to move to Florida. My sister Laurie was already there, and she said I could stay with her a while if I went to college. I did just that, and graduated from Brevard Community College in Cocoa with a degree in digital electronics. At this point, I was already putting original bands together in Florida. After a while I landed a job with Bellsouth as a service tech, and after two years was promoted to Special Systems as a digital tech. I have been there since 1998. This job allowed me to save enough money to build a wonderful studio in Deltona, FL.

Originally, the studio was meant to be just for my own use, but as time went by, everyone kept telling me that I should consider recording others in the studio, as well. In 2005 I began to do just that. I have always recorded, overdubbed, edited, mixed and mastered my own material, but now I have the pleasure of doing this for others! I intend to build the studio into a full-time business in the very near future, but for now I am available to record weeknights and weekends, and have been extremely busy doing so.

To put this into perspective, I have 40 years of musical experience, which includes playing in tons of bands as a drummer and guitarist, along with writing, recording and editing my own material along the way, and I have been officially recording others since early 2005. My studio is packed with some of the latest technology, and offers a comfortable and affordable place for you to be creative and get the job done without any hassle. I also offer many other services including Karaoke birthday parties, drum lessons, CD/DVD duplication and printing, web design and graphics, logos, voiceovers, TV and radio commercials, video shoots and editing, media transfers and much more!

I also play drums for a classic rock/blues band called Don't Scare The Dog featuring some of central Florida's most experienced players! The band plays in and around Orlando a few times per month and boasts 4 of 4 vocalists, keyboards, and harmonica. Before this band I was the drummer for The Wunderdogs, and the guitarist for Babbling Genius.

Thanks for listening, and I hope to see you at LauberLand soon!

Sincerely,
Dave Lauber
