There is a fresh new artist in the prairies with a distinctive sound. When Lily Hall picks up the guitar, she strums and sings each note as if it’s her last. With a voice as unique to ear as Joss Stone’s soulful sound, Lily’s performance is peacefully haunting.
After performing for friends and family for many years, Lily took the stage in venues from Vancouver to Northern Alberta and captivated those in attendance in early 2011. Upon establishing a strong line-up of songs, she has taken them into the studio in Edmonton and with a full band has recently finished her first EP entitled My Marigolds.
The young folk singer from Salmon Arm, B.C. was surrounded by music her entire life, taking music lessons from a young age. But it was tragedy that inspired the 21-year-old to take her talent seriously. At the age of 14, Lily found herself at the mercy of God when her dad passed away in 2003. She embraced music to deal with her pain. Eventually, her songs of sorrow transformed into the foundation of an utmost passion when she finally understood the power of her God-given gift. And she hasn’t looked back since. “When I finally began to heal, my focus had changed from making music to help myself into making it in the hope that it will help heal others too. It’s a true blessing what music can do for the soul.”
Lily grew into her own style and it’s no wonder as she has become as distinctive as her influences from Frazey Ford, Laura Marling, Bon Iver, Bombay Bicycle Club, Angus & Julia Stone among others.
Looking forward to taking her music to the masses, Lily will be performing throughout Western Canada at festivals and cafes and perhaps into the East Coast with the suggestion from many that venues there would adore her.
Who wouldn't recognize Anthony Followill's voice from Kings of Leon, or Florence Welch from Florence And The Machine? Lily Hall has her own sound, vocally and musically that will enchant all of those in attendance.
