M.A.k.U. is a mix of rock, punk and alternative and other modern rhythms with the strong and very present influence of traditional Colombian folklore music. Sounds from the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Colombia inform our music and are our inspiration when it comes to brainstorming for new sounds. We look to paint a modern picture with the ink of the past, representing the ways in which we've learned to see the world through two different cultures. Juxtaposing our modern views and lifestyles with our own romantic ideas of tradition. Preserving, yet transforming our deeply rooted culture, while somehow making it current. Re-claiming it, in a way.
