Blues, folk, country, a dash of cabaret & lethal doses of vintage 60s garage---The Maledictions' sound has been called "Gothic Americana".
"It's all just folk music," according to bandleader Kevin Orton,"Maybe aggressive folk but folk music at heart...I tend to write songs
about people who are un-insured".
The band got their start with Orton's solo debut, "Femme Noir", which featured a number of guest artists including Violent Femmes' frontman, Gordon Gano (violin on "Sad Eyes"). Soon after Orton formed The Maledictions.
Based in NYC Orton & Co. are soon to release a new EP, "Back In The Swing".
