2007 San Diego Music Award Winners for Best Funk/Jazz Album, ON THE ONE walk alongside KDTU & the Greyboy All-Stars when it comes to export music from America's finest city. Drum king John Staten (Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe) teamed up with long time friend and sax aficionado Jesse Molloy (Giant People) to create ON THE ONE in the summer of ‘06. Bassist Andy Irvine (Giant People) alongside celebrated jazz guitarist Pete Lombardo square this funky soul rock quartet. With his touring peers regularly calling John their “biggest influence” and “the best drummer out there”, Staten’s hard hitting hip-hop drum beats drive OTO’s sound. Sax, groove bass, and effortless guitar team up to bring the generations to the floor.
ON THE ONE signed their 2008 debut studio album, Love Addiction, to the Japanese P-Vine label through a licensing deal with NYC based Velour Recordings (Soulive/Lettuce/Kaki King) and are busy in the studio crafting their sequel.
