Super Consumers is a five-man alternative rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2007, the band began as an acoustic duo, born out of Ron and Matt's mutual love of 90s alt rock and beer specials.
After gigging around the Philly and NYC bar scenes throughout the beginning of ‘07, the duo became a full band, creating a distinctive sound centered around deceptively simple sounding guitar riffs. The band cut its teeth gigging around Philly before hitting the studio to record its debut CD, “Terrorism” (now available on iTunes).
Filled with driving rhythms and pointed commentary, “Terrorism” holds the mirror up to cultural excess. The album toys with issues of control and addiction (both chemical and technological), while staying rooted in rich guitar rock. Recorded at Studio Crash in Philly with producer Michael Harmon, “Terrorism” includes such playfully titled songs as “Say It With Me Now: BODEGA” and “Other Uses for a Lightbulb” that grind out a heavy helping of musical kickass.
On January 24, 2009, Super Consumers played the Trocadero Main Stage in Philadelphia with ByrnMawr and Bayshore Drive. With an attendance of over 1,000 people, the bill was one of the largest all local shows ever hosted in the city and a record for the show's promoter.
In February 2009, Super Consumers were selected for Singer-Songwriter Cape May, a premier Northeast showcase for music industry professionals. The event features 150 acts over two days, receiving coverage on WCFA 101.5FM in New Jersey.
Super Consumers have been played on Radio 104.5 FM in Philadelphia and UnHeard Radio. Watch for Super Consumers on tour all year long throughout the Northeast.
