Sorry I've been AWOL for a while. Hopefully you stay safe over there and come back. If you didn't, what would I listen to?

Army Strong is great by the way. Different than your other stuff, definitely.

Well, looks like I just missed you. Not sure if you're going to Basic or deploying. Ray told me to listen to your stuff, and he was right. It's really solid. I'm on my way back from Iraq in a few weeks. Drop me a line when you have a chance. Any other military friendly folks, please stop by and visit.

good luck on your tour of duty. Hopefully you will not be gone long and you'll be safe. :-)

It WAS the plucked sound I recognized right away. It is a very distinct stock instrument in FL Studio. :)

Reason is really powerful, and a totally different beast compared to FL Studio. I wouldn't call either better than the other, rather each is better for different kinds of people. I personally respond better to the way Reason functions and how it's designed. It is literally set up like a rack in a studio, while FL studio is set up more akin to very feature rich step sequencer.

On a side note, are you using FL Studio for your production? One of the instruments on your latest track "In My Heart" tipped me off. I used to use FL Studio before I switched to Reason. I loved that program. Been thinking of opening it up again and making another beat with it for old times sake.

Good luck with your time in the military and all that it may lead you to. From the strong sounds of your last few songs, you'll no doubt be supplying everyone there with some heavily inspirational music. We'll all still be here waiting patiently for more tunes upon your return.

Good luck on the Marines... can you call someone jarhead who has a shavecap? (Family is mostly military, so I gotta give you SOMETHING!)

You powerlift competitively? My wife's coworker is big into it (Delbert Hickman, heard of him?). Anyway, thanks for the tunes and best of luck and keep your head clear and low.

There is nothing to be ashamed about to say inspiration comes from videogames! I only wish there was a genre for game inspired music, like ocremix or something. Ken Levine's contributions to the art with System Shock and Bioshock are priceless.

Would you kindly upload more videogamesque music?

axis (level 17) wrote:

The axis sits truly in the center of the thing, just as your beats will shake the tympanic membrane with their vast quantity.

Seems to me several of your songs or titles are inspired by videogames. Would there be truth in this?

Darren!

I love Hotwire...the loop is soooooooo addictive. It also seems like this is one of your more developed pieces- that's just my take on it. Your music is easy on the ears, but it's also incredibly deep and somehow emotional. So when do i get to hear The Outer Heavens?

And thanks for the wallposts. Keep the songs coming.

Hey Darren,

I like the atmospherics of your music. An electronic edge, and well expressed moods. You keep making it, I'll keep listening.

The remix of the song itself (Clocks) was great, but the drums sounded like you took one of the prebuilt kits out of Reason, dropped some patterns in Redrum and went with it. If you just played with the sounds a bit and made them sound less like they're fresh out of the shrink wrap, it'd be a big improvement.

There's still some awesome stuff in there, though. Keep it up.
