The Rhone Occupation is an indie rock group from Los Angeles, California. In 2008 the groups singer (previously a solo singer/songwriter) started meeting with other musicians to build his live show. In only weeks, the group had formed and was booking shows. At first, it was clear that the songs were mostly based around the original versions of Jacob Summers’ original solo arrangements, but after only a few months, the other members’ influences, and strengths started shining. Now, almost a year and a half later, the groups sound is still heavily influenced by the older-solo material, but has taken on a life of it’s own. With a steady, and dependable rhythm section (Leif Davidsen on bass, and Nate Gamb on drums) guitarist Matt Salas is free to bend and manipulate his chaotic, and ambient playing, while you can always depend on singer Jacob Summers to pull off an inspiring, melodic live performance.
In April of 2009, the Rhone Occupation released their debut recordings for free on their website. The group is also awaiting finished mixes of their upcoming Album. (due at the end of this summer) The Rhone Occupation recorded a bulk of the Album tracks with engineer, Eric Ryan, at Ravenswork studios in Venice, CA., and finished the recordings at Sony studios in San Diego, CA., with engineer Chris Canning.
