Born Gregory Jackson Combs, He spent his childhood day dreaming, drawing and listening to his mothers Harry Chapin records. In youth he dabbled in everything from Classical to Jazz, and finally as a young songwriter, re-discovered American Roots and Folk music.

Moving to Chicago on a whim post college, Combs landed a spot playing a weekly gig, and hosting at the Uncommon Ground Coffee House, A sort of Mecca for up and coming Songwriters, and Folk Singers. The exposure proved to be of great use for Combs, to not only hone his craft but to launch himself in front of a larger audience.

Recruiting some musician friends and Performing under the muse the Apartments, an up and coming Chicago based rock quartet with an infectious moody rock style that takes you from a dirty Blues Club in Chicago to the bars of Nashville in the same song. Combs and his band were eventually forced to give up the name “The Apartments” due to legal reasons. Though the names have changed, and his vision has appeared under several different incarnations the music and passion, remain the same.

The use of Storytelling and characters honor American roots rock, the best of the old meets a new generation of songwriting.

Recently releasing his 10 song debut "Tales from the Windy City" which tells a story of youth, loss and love while creating an organic sense of Midwestern identity, and also playing several inaugural shows at seminal Chicago venues like the Elbo Room, Wise Fools Pub, the World Folk Music Company, and the Uncommon Ground. The Album was released in limited amounts, but many of the songs became staples for the group and it's fans.

Currently residing in Chicago where pre-production is beginning on his Sophomore album entitled "the Hardest Parts" which is slated to be released sometime late this spring. (-) collapse
