As uncompromising as Ivan the Terrible. As ambitious as Peter the Great. As secretive as Anastazia. But not for long. On September the 15th., Tzars are finally ready to hit the record stores as Division Records proudly let loose the bands debut album. This fine rock act out of Oslo, Norway, attacks with a selection of well crafted songs; the tunes were captured in mystical Kaliningrad, recorded in a boat house on the Norwegian west coast, mixed and brought to perfection in Stockholm by the magic ears and fingers of Jörgen "Jugglo" Wall (Atomic Swing, Hellacopters, to name but a few) and producer Kenneth Ishak. Tzars nod in the direction of bands as different as Poises, Duran Duran, Soundtrack Of Our Lives and Talking Heads (sic!). However, their debut album proves that the band has been quite successful in composing their own Borsch. This promising little dish consists of convincing songwriting, a good, solid sound and creative production. In this respect Tzars is another good example that taking your time to get what you look for before recording your first record is maybe not such a bad idea. Now, let the summer - and the russian winter - come!
