biography
Universal Hall Pass is the music of New England native Melissa R. Kaplan, former singer/songwriter/ front-woman of Boston's popular electronic-pop outfit Splashdown. Her new project throws the same curve balls, mingling genre-hopping songs with clever song-craft. These elements helped launch her first group, Splashdown, into television and motion pictures, earning critical accolades and a devoted following.

Signed early on to Capitol Records with her previous project Splashdown, Melissa has worked with producers Glen Ballard, Bryan Carrigan and Anthony J. Resta. Her musical influences are broad ranging, from jazz, electronic, to Bulgarian and the music of the Middle - East. Her voice has been in motion picture soundtracks, (Titan A.E., The Red Planet, K-PAX, Mr. Woodcock, The Ex among others) and video games like Sony's Playstation 2 games Amplitude and Frequency, Ubisoft/ Xbox games, Assassin’s Creed, and Kane and Lynch: Dead Men. In addition, Melissa has had her music placed in the WB Network shows Charmed and Angel and sang for Showtime’s “Master’s of Horror” theme which won an Emmy for outstanding original main title music for a television show in 2006. I like Sally's Song. When I first heard it I thought it was the song from Nightmare before christmas, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I've got to say, Sally's Song is beautifully done. Really inspired vocals; the quality is top notch. Really nicely put together piece of music.

Cheers from Toronto,

Sally's Song is absolutely terrific - it's playful and intelligent; great production to accompany the beautiful vocals. It hooked me from the start and never let go. Nice, nice, nice.

Sally's Song ... well, well, well, hello Melissa, so we meet yet again, my friend. It's been a while since I've had any real presence on the New England music scene, so sure hope you recall our contacts in the past. Am finding a different kind of 'comeback' of my own [sort of] right here at t61 - it's getting my review chops back so I'll be ready for the next step, whatever that might be.
LOVE the new song - a smooth, sultry tune for sure.

Anything I can do, just let me know ..

much respect
