Formerly known as "The Deja Blu Band"
All of the musicians in Vae Victus started playing their instruments at a young age. Chad Wall and Anthony Calderone were high school friends and have been in multiple cover bands together.
Dave Janco joined the band when the group's original drummer had to leave due to complications. Dave had never been in a band before, and few people knew that he even played a set, since all of his public appearances were in the high school percussion section. Now that he's out and playing with the group, he is regarded as the best drummer in the Belle Vernon Area that nobody knew about.
Anthony, went through high school having no one that could rival his bass skills. Trained by Bob "Crafty" Crafton from the Povertyneck Hillbillies (a country group from the area that enjoyed major success) Anthony continues to be one of the best bass players the Pittsburgh area.
Chad started playing guitar at the age of 8. He has been trained by numerous well-respected guitarists in the Pittsburgh area, Most notably, Jim Relja who now does reviews for Academy Acoustic Labs, Mike Karwowski who graduated Carnegie Mellon with a Doctorate in Music Composition, and Lucian Schroyer, owner of LPS Guitars.
Vae Victus started to record and perform originals when they entered into the Ernie Ball battle of the bands contest, in which the grand prize was a slot at the 2010 Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival. They needed a professional recording of an original song to compete so the band recorded a 5-song EP that got so much attention that the band went back into the studio to record 5 more tracks for a full-length album. The band finished the contest 64th out of 6700+ bands, by the way.'
The band is currently working with the A&R; firm "Big Noise, LLC" in hopes of securing a record deal.
