Here's one I learned the hard way - don't keep uploading just because your limit increases. The best way to maneuver on this site as an artist is to entice repeat customers to your music. You'll see a lot of bands stalled out with a ton of their songs in the 30-50 range because they kept adding new songs without promoting old ones, and no one feels like bumping EVERY one when they discover the band. Eventually the upload limit will catch up to them.

Billy - While I don't dispute your category of alt/indie rock, you may want to try other genres for some of your songs. Increasingly, points are weighted differently in different genres depending on how competitive they are. Also, you're more likely to find the genre where people really love your stuff.

yeah it's rather confusing but basically it's sorta kinda like a game where the listeners bump or vote on the artists and in some mysterious way both artists and listeners go up levels...well anyhow there is lots of new and different music on this site - oh yeah ask kosmik ray and he'll send you a guide on it (very informative)
