Level 14 - congrats guys!

Upon further research there is only one other song over 300 bumps (Glenn Case's On My Block with 320) that hasn't posted (unlesss there are other songs by the same band posted recently which would hold it back). On My Block is also in alt/indie rock genre. There seem to be about 11 alt/indie rock postings this week that have over 300 points...many with less than Down's 563...

Still not making sense here...

meh, my link got cut off, but for anyone unfamiliar with the AT song The Unlucky Ones, just look for it in their song list. Quite appropriate.

Actually the AT problem defies understanding. The TS song (which I love and maxbumped) was alternative, btw, but it's not easy to find genres any more. I sorted the browse list to find all songs over 500 bumps this week. ALL have posted except for Down, in a variety of genres. The label question is interesting. I'm not even sure labels are listed in the data for bands...AT put their label in their bio, but it is definitely a very indie label. And many of those blog scraped bands have active labels and they seem to hit the homepage constantly.

The curse theory is still quite alive.
Come out and dance a while, out in the black cat infested night. - oh yes, they are the Unlucky Ones.

I'm beginning to agree with you Jarrod. I can think of two possibilities, both somewhat flimsy. 1) The TS song is "electronic" genre, which probably does have a different posting algorithm than alt/indie. 2) You guys are signed to a label - even if an indie label, while TS is not to anyone (that I know of). It *could* be - and I have no evidence whatsoever to back this up so it's pure speculation - that unsigned artists have different coefficients or maths than signed artists.

Or yes, 3) you guys are cursed. In which case I will lend what mojo I can.

I always miss your uploads for one reason or another, so it's no big deal. You keep putting up the good tunes and that's all that really matters.

By the way, the messages are nice to receive. That's another thing that makes thesixtyone great.

I got your message! You guys were the first victims of the block! The day it came out, you guys had posted on my wall and I tried to see what this new, magical [block user] buton does... lo and behold, I have now inadvertently banninated you guys from my wall. I gotta figure out how to unban you.

Oddly enough, you guys are the only victims of banning on my wall and it was all because I wanted to see what it did! :( Sorry.

The song is incredible, BTW... and as always.

Prolly too late to change genres. But all it does it change the nature of the experiment a little. I think the first few hours after a post have been significantly reduced in influence (perhaps especially for established artists) by a site-wide algorithm shift. If Diwn is anything like your other great tracks (and it sounds good enough to be for me), then it's going to get several hundred bumps today regardless, and the question will really be how soon those turn into posting.

iyzie (level 19) wrote:

It will be an interesting experiment. My theory is it will post faster because its genre is alt, indie rock.

Because you guys are awesome at everything, I've bumped and added every one of your songs. Have a nice day.

Have you noticed that ever since you hit level *13* things have been kinda crazy? Still trying to make sense out of the incomprehensible. Must be that whole Unlucky thing you guys aeem to have perfected.

It's cool that Eurynome got a revive for In My Veins early this morning. Not cool that it had dropped to page 5 within 4 hours...by 10 am eastern time, so not that many people will have had a chance to see it on the homepage.
As I said in the song comments:
This is just wacko. If revives are supposed to give new users a chance to see previous songs (at a premium bump cost, I might add) then something is broken.

They are working on it...of course you'd have to have a 5# battery...

I really like the re-telling of the story of a prodigal son from a different point of view that You Hung The Moon provides. Never really thought about the other side of that story before, but it does have merit.

OK, I just got the firstbump on this one. My first AT firstbump, and I'm thrilled. I also earned a few new grey hairs today, worrying about the glitches, so maybe I earned it.

SG, I actually waited several seconds after I saw it go up thinking you'd have a shot at it...but then the bump fever took over and I couldn't help myself. So many times I've started the player when it said "0" only to find myself in at double digits. This was quite a surprise.

Sorry folks,
Admiral Twin is having login issues. I'm sure they'll be back just as soon as we can figure out who to contact to get it fixed.

News

Admiral Twin is looking for a small island nation to conquer. If you and your people wouldn't mind being ruled over by a benevolent-yet-all-powerful oligarchy of slacker musicans from Tulsa, OK, contact us via this website. P.S. We'd rather not have to shoot anyone, if that's OK...so no armed resistance, please. Violence makes us kinda queasy. And then we get grumpy. It's no fun for anyone at that point.
