Asleep In The Park are based in Melbourne, Australia, and formed after Maxine ‘Max’ Harman had an epiphany at Macchu Picchu in Peru to leave her conservative life and ‘pursue passion’ by singing, she partnered up with high voltage guitarist Marty Ackerly, a longtime friend and the only musician she knew at the time. After a few years of developing their sound, recording their first album and an EP, Marty and Max were drawn to members of an energetic and insane musical comedy, bassist Naomi Brockenshire and drummer Simon Newberry.
The band’s music has been played on extreme sports channels in Australia, they’ve been filmed by MTV Ukraine and were the first international act to be recorded live-to-air at Istanbul’s only commercial rock station, K-Rock FM. Asleep in the Park cite countless musical infl uences from rock to old school punk, country, pop and soul, mixing genres like other people mix drinks (but without the nasty hangover) infusing their music with an appealing blend of thumping bass lines, lush keys, driving guitars and insanely catchy lyrics that reach deep into your skull and vigorously shake listeners into a blissful delirium.
