Athenaeum was born in the early 1990's and was named after the high school literary club that boasted such members as Hunter S. Thompson and Robert Penn Warren. After developing a cult following throughout the southeast, the band was eventually signed to Atlantic Records and EMI Music Publishing. "Radiance" and the self titled "Athenaeum" solidified the band as one of the regions top musical acts. These days the band reunites to play a handful of shows each year.
