RE:ACTION

Spring, TX

about +
Re:Action began as an idea. Marco Cantoni, the (arguably) creative force behind the music, surveyed the current landscape of pop music and found very little that stood out as unique or interesting. Take a steady beat behind layers of lip gloss and auto-tune, put it on an album filled with - well - filler and watch the money pour in. This is how pop music is constructed in the 21st Century.

Re:Action is different in that it's mainstream-sounding music that is not meant for a mainstream audience, or mainstream acceptance. All pop music is essentially about sex in one way or another, yet aside from the brilliance of Peaches and a few other artists, few have come out and been straight with their audience. Re:Action is about sex, sure. But it's also about fun, energy, and yes, love. Far from the misogynistic idea of sex that most male musicians champion, Re:Action is about the mutual experience. It is never demeaning; reducing the role of the woman in sex to a mere object. At the same time, it parodies the idea that sex is about male control and pleasure. Some may find it offensive. Fair enough. But for those of us with an open mind, Re:Action is the second coming of SEX in pop music.

More than anything, Re:Action is not meant to be serious. Just fun. So have fun. Make of it what you will.

And tell your friends. Just don't tell your mother.
