To our faithful listeners,

We've decided to formally shutdown thesixtyone.com -- our servers will go offline at midnight, May 1st 2017.

Artist tipping and music purchases will be functional until then, so please spend any remaining credits by month's end.
A final payment will be made to artists following the shutdown.

thesixtyone was our baby for most of our twenties. We're incredibly sorry we weren't able to keep things going in the
right direction.

Thank you for being a part of it.

Ok, I’m a little late, but so what.  52 weeks (more or less), 52 songs.  I can hear trumpet fanfares in my head.  Awesome

There You Go

Caught rotten,

Staring out a window at nothing in particular,

With a poor man’s excuse for a horizon in front of me.

I’ve definitely been this way before,

I’m just not sure I like the scenery all that much.

But there you go.

I just don’t know what I want.

I just don’t know what I want.

I just don’t know what I want.

I just don’t know what I want.

That’s really beside the point though,

Seeing as how all my messages get returned to sender.

I’m still busy subdividing my divisions,

Into smaller pieces of insignificance.

What does it mean? Why should we care?

Is that the 4, or the 4GS, or the Desire?

In all the cities in all the world is there anyone

Who is well qualified to answer your questions?

I just don’t know what I want.

I just don’t know what I want.

I just don’t know what I want.

I just don’t know what I want.

Everybody’s trying to be so cool, so calm, so collected,

But you should not let that fool you.

If you scratch that surface, just a little bit,

You will find it,

The panic that consumes.

It’s a hard old station -

As someone might once have said before me.

Let me tell you, life is not fair,

And every chance you get you must grab it,

I just don’t know what I want.

I just don’t know what I want.

I just don’t know what I want.

I just don’t know what I want.

51 times, to answer my own question.  Ho ho ho.

Merry Christmas people!

Actually, I should clarify – this isn’t a Christmas tune. We are probably a little more like to end up on our arses this time of year, what with the ice and snow and whatnot, so the “get back on your feet again” message might be appropriate there

One more to go.  Jeeebus.

Not for the first time, I’m late.  Sorry about that.  Late last week this tune was all electric guitar and beats.  It’s changed a little.  Just a smidgen.  On another point, and somewhat shamefully, it’s only the second TS@aW tune wth a banjo on it.

Tsk tsk…

On another point, song 50 out of 52!  Woooo!

It feels like I’ve left this one half-done.  I’ve been out gigging this week, (ey up Clonakilty, Wexford & Portlaoise!), which means there’s a lot that could have happened with this one that didn’t.  Maybe I’ll get back to it at some point…

This here tune didn’t turn out the way I thought it would. It. Just. Would. Not. Work.

Happens sometimes. The advantage of TS@aW is that I can go through this process, end up with something I’m not particularly fond of but yet not feel like it was a waste of time.  I like those falsettos, and I like the idea of that electric guitar, but not the execution so much.  It did only have 5 strings from half-way through.  I’m guessing it shows…

Irish musician Bill Coleman is becoming known as a bit of a ringmaster of gadgets, loops, laptops and guitars.

His live show channels influences ranging from Talking Heads to Neil Young. Pumped, joyous, upbeat songs sit next to moments of "you can hear a pin drop" silence. Audiences have been approving, which bodes well for the release of Bills second album later on this year.

In the meantime, the 'Black and Red' ep will give you an idea of what to expect.

"...a seriously energetic piece that should get living people dancing like idiots." - Easy Music for Difficult Ears

Here are a couple of links that have helpful info for new t61artists, http://the611.rockbandgenius.com/

Your music is great, but please don't upload any more tunes for a few days -- your songs will be competing with each other, due to our limited amount of hearts. Three songs is the perfect number to start.
