Bowery is the brainchild of Shanee Laurent and Phill Kulas, two singer songwriters/multi instrumentalists from Grand Rapids, MI.

We began as an acoustic duo, playing for friends, and tentatively sticking our little toes out into the world by hiding out at open mics and small bars. As the story goes, after some time doing these small gathering type things, we decided that we needed to "play real shows" and eventually agreed that we needed to record records.
Our debut album "Our Love Is A Ghost" was released quietly in April of 2009. Recorded with the help of producer/wunderkind Joel Ferguson at Planet Sunday Studios in Rockford, MI and featuring the talented drumming of Scott Stefanski, OLIAG is a culmination of all the things that we were able to creatively embrace at that moment in time. It features all of our musings in the realms of rock, pop, triphop, and alternative folk.
We write and record constantly these days, and have expanded from a miniscule duo, into a full fledged five piece fire breathing monster of a band.
We now feature Shanee and Phill singing, playing guitars, keyboards, and making weird samples... as well as Tyler Steimle playing most delightful lead guitars and keyboard noises, Todd VanTongeren playing bass and singing, and Scotty Hickok bashing drums and doing the Whoa-a-Whoas.
It's quite a sight these days.

Currently we're recording an acoustic/electronic EP for promotional purposes. Look for it this Fall.
Then we're going to finish our full length followup album entitled "The Without You". You'll find that early 2010.
