Richly imagined and ethereal, brodie + david’s music is crafted by night around the grand piano in Brodie’s wine country home. Brodie stands; David sits. A bottle of red wine is often present. David takes smoking breaks. Brodie curls up in an armchair and writes lyrics. David plays the guitar. Brodie makes giant cups of Earl Grey tea. This is usually how it goes.

Later, the songs are recorded in David’s tool shed studio in the woods of Forestville, Ca. One evening, while recording the song “Little Bird,” the crickets were so loud that Brodie and David decided to record them. Then they recorded the trees rustling. Then feet walking on gravel. Then birds chirping, and anything else that happened to be going on that evening. At night, the crickets stopped, so they just recorded the air.

Brodie and David both grew up in Sonoma County, Ca, where nearly everything is beautiful and the weather is perfect. They met in high school but didn’t actually become friends until both played leading roles in a musical and shared a steamy onstage kiss.

After graduating from high school, the two continued to pursue music while both were in college. David went to Berklee School of Music in Boston to study film scoring, but found he was more productive outside of the classroom. Brodie attended Stanford University and graduated with a degree in Creative Writing. They made music in the summertime.

In 2007, David took a leave of absence from Berklee and returned to the Bay Area. The two have been making nonstop music ever since. They are in the process of making more professional versions of their original recordings without losing any of the awesomeness of the original tracks. This is not an easy task.

They recently returned from playing at a wild rumpus in Santorini, Greece.
