Clairaudience is a rough’n’ready instrumental four-piece (2 guys, 2 gals) based in Sydney’s (Australia) inner west. Clairaudience began playing for fun in a converted warehouse in 2005 and will be launching their first album as part of local label Feral Media’s POWWOW new music series. Clairaudience contributed the track ‘Camber’ to the highly regarded new music sampler ‘Super Shiny Sydney’ in late 2006.
The Clairaudience recording process is to jam using uncomplicated themes & interesting textures. Record everything, then sculpt. The Clairaudience philosophy is to create music by playing frequently with friends in an ego-less environment where simplicity and basic technique is no barrier to pushing the boundaries. There is an unaffected human quality to Clairaudience’s music that draws you with it’s honest immediacy. Influences include Broken Social Scene, Stars, Animal Collective, Joy Division and of course Velvet Underground.
