Exploding out of the speakers like a dexedrine fuelled sonic jailbreak, Darlings Of The Day first made their mark with their debut EP entitled “Get Burned”, released on indie label So Sweet Records in Spring 06. Soaked in dirty LA sunshine, brimming with addictive riffs, infectious melodies, and relentless hooks, the EP received glowing reviews, regular airplay on indie stations in America and Europe as well as music placement for all four songs in 6 prime time MTV shows. Core members LA native Sterling Mire (vocals) and Londoner James Goddard (guitar) have been making music as Darlings Of The Day since summer 2005, following a chance meeting in the dead of night, somewhere in California’s Joshua Tree desert. The success of their initial release, combined with a rapidly growing fanbase, enticed them to hit the road as a four piece, playing sold out shows in LA, San Diego and Las Vegas with some of the West Coast’s best acts. Having spent 2007 rattling the windows and waking the neighbours of their studio below the Viper room on Sunset Strip, James and Sterling have emerged blinking into the California sunshine armed with a vast amount of new material and a brand new EP, showcasing a taste of their new songs. Having road-tested some of this new material during acoustic shows in Austria and the UK in summer 08, plans are afoot to return to Europe this fall. From the foot-stomping call to arms of “The Fall”, through the ass-shaking finger-snapping urgency of “(everybody loves you) When You’re Dead” to the slash’n’burn riffs of “Hero Worship”, the addictive melodies lodge deep in your brain whilst Sterling’s unique vocals at once seduce and thrill.
