After a series of different projects Kent, Curt, and Shelly decided to look for a new sound in July of 2005. After holding several auditions for a lead vocalist, the band was growing weary. At that time, Matt Schultz responded to the band's add on a website. Matt, from Rhode Island, brought a unique sound in, and it clicked immediately. The members decided that, in order to deepen their sound, they needed to bring in an additional guitarist. They placed a call to Rob (former lead vocalist of Obsidian and Face at the End).
