back to the “today” search and saw your "I Can't Remember" song, just uploaded and waiting for a first bump and I listened to it and thought this must be a karma moment, surely, and I first bumped it and was really happy about receiving that opportunity. Best wishes :)

Hi Morville, sorry my song comment was cryptic. I wrote on your wall here last March that I liked your songs but there was something unsatisfying about the recording. Usually I don't comment much but I really liked your music except for that. After that, no other t61 music made me feel like commenting in that way again, until I heard t61 song "Sinai" by Wandering Poet and I really liked it but felt the flute tune didn't follow typical Eastern notes and I wrote a song comment on it, saying how I really liked the song and stuff but that there was something about the flute playing that didn't seem Eastern-authentic enough. I was trying to figure out whether I should post my comment or not, and I was thinking of you, Morville, because when I wrote my comment to you back in March I argued with myself as to whether to let it stand or delete it and I allowed it. I deleted my Sinai comment but I was lefting thinking about you and I went

Oh no, don't thank me. Thank you for the music, always thank you.
Believe me when I say you are a wonderful artist. I believe in you and your music. That's all.
Take care and have a great weekend :)

I agree with September 29th except for writing so much on your wall...
Your music has always been beautiful
I'll never ever mention the words "recordings" or "demos" ever again ;)
Take care :)

I know what you mean :)
We just have to forget we are sitting behind our songs, let them go, spread their wings and feel they're free, we are free, and listeners can hate or love them without hurting us. Or something like that...
Anyway, your music is touching and this is far more interesting than a "perfect" recording. "Perfection is a mere reflection..."
And finally I shut up! Sorry for writing so much on your wall.
Hope you're having a grand grand day ;)

Sometimes I wonder what's the difference between demos and good recordings... I don't believe in that kind of "quality" :)
I like your music, fellow traveler.

Peace & Ciao

Thank you for your kind words. Our ears must appreciate the same things ;)
I'm very happy I found your music and that I was able to hear the beauty and energy behind those first demos you uploaded.
These last recording do sound better.
Take care my musical friend :)

haha, yeah, that perfectionism a rabbit hole to be explored with caution... it goes way deeper than you can imagine... the more you pay attention to music, the more you want to tweak it, until it gets to the point that hearing things through the shitty speakers at work actually becomes annoying...

that's why there's people like me to be perfectionists FOR the artists, so you can just go on and write another song.

I'll be sending upload times tonight and I'll post it here on your wall!

Oh, and thanks for the compliment built into the question.

Remember, 90% of all progress is made outside one's comfort zone...

Think of that as like a mantra...

Avoid overusing verb and compression, though you probably will until you get better.

Don't be afraid of EQ, especially if it's analog.

Try new things all the time. Experimentation = growth.

Read everything you can. On the internet, in magazines, in books, whatever you can get your hands on. Then try all of it, because 97% of it is a matter of opinion crossed with situation.

Basically the key is know as many options as you can at any given time, and pretty much make it up from there.

I can't tell you to learn what sounds "good", because there's no real way to do that. Just do what you like, and be a perfectionist, and people are bound to like it or hate it.

That's pretty much everything I know about recording.

From an engineering standpoint recording order of importance = signal flow.

Knowing your signal flow being the top of the list as far as efficiency in a session, it starts at the player, then mics/placement, preamps, mixer, interface (tape machine or protools), medium (the tape itself, if that's your thing... digital it doesn't really matter so much).

From there, it's all just knowing what buttons to push and just using your ears. Listen to shit you like and try to pick out what about it you really like. At the same time, spend a lot of time mixing and trying to make things "fit" together while still making everything as lush as possible. This will actually change the way you listen to music, and you'll start picking different things out more specifically.

Any questions regarding the upload you can ask myktoronto
Yes, I'm surprised at the points I have, it boils down to more listeners and changes I guess. Good thing though because I know who they are for ;)

Hello and thank you!
I agree with his comment. One Bright Light is another great song. I think the sound has also improved.
There is another upload party on 8 June. I think the deadline is tomorrow, just go to KosmikRay's wall and leave a note if you want to take part.
Take care :)
