Escalator Dance Party is an indie-rock band based out of Appleton, Wisconsin, where its five members are currently enrolled at Lawrence University. The band began as a project around five songs written by Alex Schaaf, who enlisted the help of John Merritt, Georgi Petrov, and Alex Bunke to record a short EP entitled Blink. During the recording process, an energy was discovered and the guys agreed that they needed to pursue an even more cohesive group project. Unfortunately, Alex Bunke was heading off to London, England for a semester abroad, so the project sat in the vault until Fall 2007.

Escalator Dance Party performed its first official show on September 24th at Lawrence University. Shortly after that, female vocalist Colleen Welsh joined the team. Since then, they have headlined at Lawrence's "SoundBoard" and have been asked to play at numerous events around campus, including opening for outside acts and at parties.
