Hey everyone - it's Brian. I want to share our story with you.

We were in a country home in the middle of Wisconsin's quiet, but ruthless winter. From the first song, our hearts lit up. It took cues from our old recordings, ones that we worked out most of the time over the internet, with an 18 hour drive (Eric, Boston - Me, Milwaukee) separating us at the time. At the same time, this new music was pulling us away from the foundation which we were comfortable with. We knew that a change had to happen. We were ready and willing.

So, as you can assume, this wasn't planned. Planning usually doesn't lead to good things in music. You have to take things as they come, and that's how we had to approach this. It's not easy being pushed back onto your heels by something you didn't expect, but when it comes, you can't force your way back onto your feet. The music spoke for itself, we're just the messengers.

We recorded four songs in Wisconsin with minimal equipment. We knew we had to stick with these songs and not look back. We went back to our respective places and started working on the songs. After several months of our helter-skelter approach to recording (going back to Wisconsin to record, finding ways to record real pianos, not knowing how to do things and actively pursuing answers), we got to the point of releasing the music.

Finally our paths converged in Chicago in May of '09. After years of being separated by said distance (Boston and Milwaukee), we somehow got through it and arrived right here, writing this biography. What we did in Milwaukee, as teenagers, was our learning experience. Chicago will be the real thing for us and the music we play as Flights.

We hope this music excites you and makes you feel as much as it does for us.

Flights found its soul building an unconventional foundation on syncopated rhythms, frenetic live shows, and a name that introduces you into the atmospheric sound set to limitless scope. Eric Hillman and Brian Holl (keyboards/vocals and guitars/back-up vocals, respectively) have spent the better part of the last four years writing songs over the internet, patiently waiting to reconnect in Chicago and make Flights a presence in the local music scene. The seemingly endless wait paid off. Flights is currently active and working hard, with plans of releasing four new songs in June 2009, promoting the music, and booking shows for the rest of the year in an effort to expand the band's reach.
