I checked through the archives a bit and didn't see this suggested, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

I'd like to see an ability added where you bump the artist themselves. It could give them more points than just a song bump, and it would be a nice way to help one of your favorites upload more stuff. It would also be nice if you received points this way as well just as if you were bumping a song, but I'd honestly be happy just with a straight contribution to their points.

Personally, I can see this abused as the "pause factor" on currently bumping song require at least 1) a 1 minute listen or 2) a previous bump.

Also, artists themselves get no direct exposure on the pages, only their songs (sans, of course the artist page). I guess giving them point to raise a level with could be done, but all that would do is provide an easy way to create bunk new accounts and start giving points to artist (unless a previous bump was at least required to do so - or all the songs must be sampled, or something).

Either way, all the get is a level boost, which, for now, just affords the artist maybe more levels which means they can upload more songs... but still provide no additional exposure for that artist.

I do think this would help with those artists who upload 10 songs and you love a couple, like the rest more than most. Perhaps if it divided your artist bumps amongst all their songs so you could potentially recoup points as others bump the Artist or their songs.

Removes the need to find that one favorite amongst favorites and doesn't require you to bump all 10 songs and still you get to listen to your favorite artists 10 songs! They get points all the same without having to space the uploads.

Not that I've enumerated the downside. Just noting some upside.
