Maybe he just cannot get back on the site. I was having trouble logging in after they did that midnight maintenance 2-3 days ago. I finally figured out that I could make it work only by going to the leaders page first.

What reason would Sam & James have to ban him?

On my laptop, I am suddenly unable to log in and store logged in-ness for any website. Dunno if he got an update that did something like that for him as well...

(that's IE on the laptop that is being troublesome, if anyone has any suggestions)

I dont believe the June updates are out yet. May's batch of Microsoft McLovin' didn't have much IE related in it. Did anyone go for the gusto and install XP SP3 recently?

trying to follow what's up here.... from what I was reading on someone's' wall it seems KRay's e-mail address isn't being recognised... I had the same problem a few days ago, but an e-mail to the contact address fixed it within a couple of hours ... so this is a weird one huh.... let's hope it gets sorted soon and lets keep each other posted

four days have gone by since the last post by sf49rox and a week since epanou started this thread and i've seen no sign that kosmikray is back. has his problem fallen through the cracks?

And still nothing on the thread from Sam or James. I thought they might come squash the rumors if they were false.

He may have been going on vacation, or a retreat--but not for 2 weeks. He's not away from t61 by choice.

It would be a very simple to post a response here. In fact, I see it as something that would be better for T61’s image. It’s a social site. Why would they want people thinking that they did? With over 10,000 users, what comment could be so bad it would make them use their power and block one amazing user that touched so many of us?

I don't think you can claim that.
I'll tell you why I think that it is likely to be true.
a) there is no reason to ban him
b) noone would want to deal with the pain in the ass that would result from banning a very active user
c) His profile is still available and all his bumps are still showing.
d) If KRay was having a 2 week long issue, he's smart enough to create an account under a new name and at least tell a half dozen people that he was screwed over.

It's much more likely that he had some issue (the autoban for example) and didn't get it resolved before taking off for a bit.

However, K-Ray has no qualms about voicing his opinions around here. And lately, not many of them were in line with S&J;'s recent changes to the site. He has had such posts deleted from the forums before..again, recently. Maybe he became too vocal. I wouldn't think that his opinions SHOULD be enough to get him banned, but it COULD be. Though, you're right, what a pain in the ass that could turn into.

I also would have said that he would have let people know what was going on via a secondary account. I don't know how the autoban feature/system/whatever works. Does it ban the username or the user under ANY name? And if it was an autoban glitch, why has it not been resolved?

There are things being said here and there that support the ban suggestion. How much of it came directly from K-Ray, I don't know, but I'll bet some of it did.

I can tell you this, K-Ray isn't currently without internet service and I doubt he ever was, whether on vacation or not. If he chose to leave t61, I'd bet he would have said something about it to more than just a few someone's. I imagine it would take quite a lot to get him to give up on this site.

Most of what's been said here is rampant speculation.

From what I've gathered up, here is what happened. Apparently he couldn't log on one day and tried mailing the contact mailbox. After getting no response he asked myktoronto to contact on his behalf. Neither of them received responses, but apparently the mailbox was busted as neither one's email was received. I don't know him outside of this site, but he has told other users that he was at a retreat and as of Saturday he hadn't responded to another user's PM message which, assuming he wants to talk to Evonity, would mean he's not online.

So, I wouldn't rule out ban but I wouldn't rule out people getting worked up over a couple of glitches on a site in beta development. I would recommend no one loss too much sleep over it until he either shows up or contacts someone else to relay information on his behalf.

He's been vocal with his opinions since November or so (we signed up at around the same time). While not a hard and fast rule, any change that deviated from the freest of free markets was met with a well voiced and usually lengthy objection. So his objections are nothing new.

As for banning. computers are stupid. All they would know about a user is where they log in. So you could ban any IP addresses a user had ever logged in from if you wanted, but you could create a new account from any other address and the server would have no idea who you were.

I emailed him to see what was going on, and here's his response:

not only could i not log in for A WEEK, not only was my "about me" changed by sam/james, but now i'm completely shut out. this is all I get when going to the site... "404 Not Found"
