Piggybacking on supergrover's idea, he might have been using a script that pinged the website constantly to refresh/check for new uploads...I could see how that amount of activity from a single source could lead to the server blocking his IP/possibly MAC address. It might interpret it as a denial-of-service attempt.

If this is the case, there should be a very easy manual override for this (*Cough* Sam...)

No disrespect Apoc but it's not as if Kray is making an effort to let anyone know what is going on. I'm sure he could get on here if he really wanted to. I'm beginning to think that he is hoping this builds to a frenzy and I'd like for him to tell me I'm wrong.

@apocalypse--you have a point. except for the glib "autoban" comment there's been no word from the founders about anything. too bad, actually.

@eatabagel--a lot depends on the circumstances. if he has an e-mail address for you i can understand your desire for a word from him directly. if his i.p. address is blocked then it might be problematic for him to get access but i don't know about that with any certainty. what i do know is that kosmikray has been m.i.a. for 2 weeks+ and whether you like him or not he has been a tireless promoter of this site and the acts that put their music up here and i,for one, notice that absence.

www.maxbumps.net He can tell us all we need to know there if there is anything to report.My point is simply that there are means to communicate that he is aware of. He knows that people are curious about his absence and he chooses not to respond to people such as timyjl when asked to give an update on what's going on. Would it be too hard to imagine that he might let this go on for publicities sake? I think not.

@eatabagel--I'll let him know that you (and others) have suggested maxbumps.net. I can't say why he's not updated anyone over there. I can tell you that while I receive email from him, it's sometimes a day or two between responses. He's got other issues (that I'm not at liberty to repeat) going on that are taking much of his time and energy, as well as some sort of job I would think, so maybe that's why he hasn't been very responsive.
He did ask me to let people know that he's still working on getting back here. I realize that's not the same as hearing directly from him, but..

I'm not going to say you're absolutely wrong in thinking it could all be for publicities sake. I suppose you could be dead-on with that suggestion. I just don't think that's it at all.

I didn't mean to sound as if I absolutely thought this was the case either. I just know that Kosmik is a marketing guy and this situation certainly fits an excellent opportunity to market. I don't have a problem with Kosmik and if he chooses to communicate or not is his business. I just don't want everyone to go on saying that is Sam or James responsibility to comment on any of this as clearly they would have by now if they felt it was necesarry.

Kos sent a message today to anyone that is interested-- I had to post it on my wall because it wouldn't fit on his. There's some sort of text limit on his wall posts.

Heh, it looks like K-ray doesn't know how to run apps from a command prompt. If you could relay this post, it might help him figure out what's wrong.

- Go to the Start menu
- Click Programs
- Click Accessories
- Click Command Prompt

- Type: ping thesixtyone.com
- Press Enter
- If it says "Ping request could not find thesixtyone.com", there's probably something wrong with either your hosts file (probably hijacked by a trojan or virus) or your ISP (not likely if you're on a major ISP, or we'd be hearing of a lot more problems).

- Type: ping 72.44.52.54
- Press Enter
- If you get nothing but "Request timed out", it's probably an ISP problem (call them).

If neither of those have problems, try:
- Type: tracert 72.44.52.54
- Press Enter
- This one's a bit tougher to diagnose problems with, since the requests will probably time out inside of t61's provider's firewall. I guess post the results someplace we can see it.
