There are two things I can tell you
- there has to be 48 hours between songs from the same artist
- at least one song from each genre posts every 24 hours.

The rest is all based on algorithms and metadata and whatnot. Presumably whatever keeps a song at the top of the activity page will lead to its posting and then going up the ranks on the hot page.

at least those two rules were operative last I knew. They could have changed, which would confirm what I hear all the time, that I know nothing.

soooo... does this mean that regardless of the number of bumps a track receives, if it doesn't stay at the top of the activity list it won't get posted???
It strikes me as kinda weird that a track can get 400-plus bumps in 24 hours and still never make it to the frontpage.

and also..... right now there's seven!! revived tracks on the hot page. I'm guessing artists are gonna have a very hard time getting their new tracks on the front page huh.

Adam Gregory uploaded a new song: Crazy Days (17 days ago)
(posted 16 hours ago)

why? no clue... but certainly not due to a recent rise in activity... since it just gained like 50 bumps in between the first bumpwave and the posting...

if theres any sense behind that system... wed just like to know.... if there isnt... give it sense ;)

@MaroWI
If you go to the activity page and switch the genre to country there aren't any tracks that are really hot, so Crazy Days made it after languishing.

@SS
I wouldn't say that it has to stay at the top of the hot page to post, but somewhere up there is necessary. Like I said, there is a bunch of stuff working in the background, and like everyone minus two people I have no idea what exactly the requirement to post a song is.
