Yeah, if this is intentional (and it seems to be, judging by the popup it gives you), it's an absolutely terrible change. I trade messages with non-subscribers all the time. If I get an unwelcome message on my wall, I just delete it and/or block the user.

I'm wondering if this might be tied to a user account option they haven't put in yet (ie. "Only allow comments from users you've subscribed to"). Hopefully if this is the case, it defaults to "off".

it is a feature. you can; however, edit your account so as to be able to receive messages from "strangers."

Thanks for that info, might be useful to have this turned off by default though, so people can choose to turn it on rather than blocking non-subscribers instantly and possibly without even knowing it.

yeah this should be an OFF by default some don't even know to edit their account. heck I am still learning things I can do and I assume most don't have a clue about the Forum either :(

If this is hte case, then perhaps a way to track "new" subscribers to give you a chance to give them one. It's hard to follow who is that ne one after 9...i can't count outside the box.

well I've unchecked it in my account info, but how we're supposed to let others know who don't read the forum and aren't subscribers is a mystery to me.

The major problem with this is that, should we want to contact someone not subscribed to us, there is no way to alert them to subscribe to us without being able to message them in the first place

But yeah, please turn it off by default.

Seems this also means an artist can't post a 'thanks' message on anyones wall who bumps one of their tracks but does not add it.

Yeah Alex.I've just found that out the hard way too.Standard action which will save a lot of time and stop that all too good feeling you get from thanking listeners for taking the trouble to appreciate your music.Especially those who max bump an already tired old song which has NO CHANCE of rewarding their efforts with any bumpimoolah.
Hurrah for yet another shit implementation.
