Opting in "block messages from strangers (listeners who you have not subscribed to and artists whose songs you have not added)" would have been so much better than opting out, unless someone knows a way for me, to let my friends know they should either subscribe to my profile or opt out of the fore mentioned arrangement.

Now I'm full - again - with a truck load of negative feelings against T61, which I don't and won't express here. Instead I think I need to back off a little bit for a while. Maybe go in retrait, like KosmikRay did.

Subscribing to your friends will send them an email notifying them that they can subscribe back if they want you to write on their wall or message them via tunebox.

good to know now, but why the sudden change? why not the block per instance?

In my opinion, wall comments and tuneboxes from people I'm not subscribed to should default to UNBLOCKED. This is a social site and people get to know each other from wall posts and tuneboxes, among other ways.

I know that I have enjoyed conversations with so-called "strangers," and I hope to enjoy more in the future. I don't subscribe to a lot of people because I don't want my subscription pane to fill up fast, but that does not mean I want to block people out.

This unannounced change has stifled communication. Many who don't read forums (or certain users' walls) will be unaware of it. Please consider changing the default to UNBLOCKED. If people feel they are getting too much spam, they can then block user or block strangers.

This same thing applies to tunebox messages as well I just found out, so now I have no way of communicating with friends I've made who are not subscribers and no way of letting them know to subscribe.

Please amend the default setting to unblocked.

did you and mr. hsiung ever consider having the default setting be unblocked and then making an announcement of a new feature? as it is, we have a greatly hampered communication network with which to let everyone know that we have a greatly hampered communication network. if it weren't so frustrating it would be funny. it is a challenge to remain tactful under the circumstances.

James, how about unblocking it by default until the announcement so that people can let each other know and subscribe and such to keep the communications flowing? Just an idea?

I really am not a fan of this change. I have very few subscriptions to other listeners by choice, because I use my subscription pane primarily to catch uploads of artists. If the pane gets overwhelmed by subscribed listener actions, it loses a huge amount of utility for me.

So this means I'm currently only allowed to tunebox and wall post to two or three people, and I really, really dislike that. If you're going to make subscribing a necessity then please, please split listener and artist subscriptions into different panes, or let us tab between them.

This is a huge loss of site functionality for me, as it stands.

iyzie: You can tunebox or wall post to at least 58 people who have subscribed to you, it's not the other way around.

If you want people to post to your wall, just uncheck "block messages from strangers" under "edit account".

i like the idea of separating the listener pane and user one. Perhaps tabbing it so it's not too huge.

How about an open option to block tuneboxes and one for wall comments?

How is a new user meant to make new friends?

The unique selling point of this site is its community.
