Rock the milk magical axe FLASH causing 100% CP... | 29 jun 08 10:46 p.m.
Don't know how to explain it much more than the title, but i'm getting SICK OF THAT DAMN ROCK THE MILK AD!!!!!!!

Seriously, when its showing on the page, it causes like 60-100% CPU usage. Now, it only happens when the viewport has it, it doesn't affect the CPU if its on the page and you've scrolled so its not being displayed, but it has to be in the viewport for CPU to be maxed.

I haven't really had this problem elsewhere, and im assuming no-one else really is either, so its possibly just my computer. (My home PC is a beast, so possibly that's why it doesn't notice, this work PC is only P4 2.8ghz).

Questions:
1. Is this happening for anyone else?
2. Do we HAVE to have flash ads on the site (im not talking
3. If so, do they HAVE to have sound that plays when you mouseover (usually totally unintentionally, as i'm on the way to something else at the top of the screen)

Anyway, thanks folks.

Same thing here. I had to enable adblock because of this milk ad. It was using all my cpu.

Same thing here. I checked it with the windows task manager.
Adblock Plus really makes the difference.
I want to support this site. I like it, it is fun to use, but please don't show me any adds that link me to http://nl.celldorado.com/ . Celldorado is fraudulent crap.

Please show us some nice advertisements to sites that are useful to t61 users. I understand that maintaining t61 costs a lot of money and that you want to earn some money. But there must be beter advertisements that you can show on this lovely website.

best regards Quirkie

We think the ad is having some technical issues. We've contacted the advertiser to let them know.

Cheers!

BTW, I noticed the same thing on the ad and enabled adblock on FF to resolve it in the meantime

Same here, in Safari 3/OS X 1.4. Unfortunately the old Powerbook I tend to use to listen to things here hasn't got the newest CPU (1.25GHz G4) . The ad is actually stealing so much CPU that the music starts to skip - causing me to flick between different pages on the site in the hope that the ad rotates to a different one.

It does similar for me, Arnout. The whole song can play (3:20 for example) and I try to bump and it will say "You still have 45 seconds before you can bump". Or, at other times, the song plays and the advance bar doesn't do anything. And, at other times, the song halts altogether.

YAY, I'm not the only one!!!

LOL... I have no idea why it would be doing this, seems to be more likely a problem with Flash itself, than the ad...

Anyway, I appreciate it, I hope it can be resolved so I can listen to music again.

Oh, and also, can they just stop the ad? Its been showing for ages, and frankly I'm sick of it :)

Looks like this problem has been resolved? Either that, or not displaying the ad has worked :D

That ad is making me insane with the horribly deafening electric guitar blast every time you mouse over the thing - can you ask them to remove the sound? It interrupts the music in the worst way possible.

I know the that y'all don't like us to use adblock, but I must admit that I do use it. For a time, I told it to allow ads on this site, but this "milk magical axe" ad make me change it back.

yeah, that's pretty frustrating to hear, yet streaming 4,226 songs (in loyalty's case) just isn't cheap. that particular ad will be out of our system soon -- it'd be great if you guys could help us out (especially if you haven't donated) and show some patience with it. that is, assuming you're not using IE 6...because i have verified that the ad actually breaks IE 6.

I can respect that. I will definitely either make a donation or unblock the site. Thanks for the perspective. :)
