As Akatishia said. It does seem that if you are a higher level listener bumping a higher level artist, yer kinda both on a rollercoaster with the wheels missing.

I think I'll stick to just hitting favorite instead of bump...I cant afford it... I just dont see the point (hah) because its better to spend my points on unknown artists it will serve both the new artist and I. Still its hard to go up from where I am. Maybe I should change my bumping style?

I'm not even a high level and the system seems ridiculous to me. The only real gains I get are when I get in early on things that reach astronomical levels... Either get in under 20 on a 300+ bumped song, or get in under 250 on a 2k+ bumped song...

I have a few songs I've bumped which have gone from ~300 to ~900 and I'm barely seeing any point returns on them. Seems kind of ridiculous.

Also, the rack would be a lot better if you had more consistent high point gains. Maybe just make it a static 20 points per song for 1000 points or something. As of right now it doesn't pay to listen to the rack, you can spend hours on there listening to crap and not getting any points... your time is better invested bumping a couple of new songs and logging out and hoping those songs do well.

The site should be about listening to music, not getting points. The points are a nice incentive but as of right now actually listening to the music can be a painful process as there is little reward for doing so.

I think the points are bugged. I received 5 points from a revive and in the last month I haven't been getting any points for older songs.

I just got almost 3000 points for older songs, I watched my points go from 9k to 12k in about a minute. I then clicked on my profile and my points were back down to 9k, so their is a bug in something.

you have to take a long-term view for some of this. here's an example of what i mean: i put one bump on the song "19h11" by danger some months ago. one bump which moved the song from 1315 bumps to 1316 bumps. i think i was like the 400th something listener on the song and it cost 5 points. months go by and revives happen and i have earned 74 points on that original 5 point investment.

not every song is going to prosper like that but you can't be hasty and you can't generally count on one song to do everything for you. pushing the bump button is not directly going to pump up your points. diversity and numbers of songs make a huge difference long-term as well. i frequently troll back through page after page of my stats seeing if anything has moved enough to be worth adding another bump here and there.

i'm no grandmaster at this game but i do know a few things.

I've been unemployed for a year and I'm only on level 15! Boo. I'm going back to work next week so who knows what will happen?? LOL

I can survive nicely here with anywhere from 30 to 35k points. I had 50k - bumped a bunch of stuff and got down to 35k - then revived about 12 songs in about a 2 week spread and still have about 34k points right now. I just bump what I like, and don't go below 30k. Seems to work for me.

It just means I'll be at level 15 forever but that's okay.
