To our faithful listeners,

We've decided to formally shutdown thesixtyone.com -- our servers will go offline at midnight, May 1st 2017.

Artist tipping and music purchases will be functional until then, so please spend any remaining credits by month's end.
A final payment will be made to artists following the shutdown.

thesixtyone was our baby for most of our twenties. We're incredibly sorry we weren't able to keep things going in the
right direction.

2007-2017

Thank you for being a part of it.

Farewell,

James Miao & Samuel Hsiung

For some reason, the pre-2010 version of t61 is suddenly back (complete with visible artists' walls!). Since it may not last, I thought I'd make a round of some of my favorite radios from times past, and yours is definitely one of them.
Radio bump #577 starts with Pedestrian, "Silent Faces." Most excellent.

Gery, at the moment quite a few 61ers (listeners and artists it seems) are checking out uvumi, including me. pretty user-friendly so far.

Heyas Gery! I didn't log in yesterday and only checked in today on the old view coz someone recommended something as definitely worth a listen. Still love finding new music ya know. Which is close to impossible on the new site unless I'm gonna spend all day wading through dreadful stuff to try and find something I want to listen to. I may not bother. I'd bump your radio, but you know....

Hi. The new design doesn't have radios or "saved songs" sections, does it? If so, I can't find them.

If not, then I can tell you that I'm going to miss yours.

Also, I liked how open the community was, with public message boards on listeners' pages. I'm going to miss the sense of community that you were helping to build.

I think the new design looks good but the functionality is diminished. I don't need a full screen photo of the artist or whatever and I don't like everything is hidden behind a link (or two or three). I am (was?) really into the game aspect of the site and that is almost impossible with the new layout. I believe that was intentional although I have nothing to base that on. TMI?

lol....the new site doesn't seem to be very popular....

makes it hard for me to use the site at work...the old one was at least slightly discreet

Oh! and while the "etiquette" thing speaks of community, I can't find it anywhere, except in the "old view". You can read wall comments there as well.

Oh I wasn't kidding.... this is not a change, the "new" site is something altogether different from t61.
A glorified radio station with pictures that plays random tunes?
Like I said on circe's wall.. finding new music is easier elsewhere, talking to people is easier elsewhere, listening to music I like is easier elsewhere, finding recommendations for music is easier elsewhere, looking at nice pictures is easier elsewhere........

Don't think I would call this a change actually. Coz that would suggest that there is some sign of something that used to be there.
Have a good one :D
